Pickbox taps into ‘growing curiosity’ among CEE viewers for Korean storytelling

Regional SVoD platform Pickbox has launched all three seasons of Korean drama The Penthouse in seven European territories following a partnership with Canal+ Distribution.

The series premiered at the beginning of December on Pickbox’s SVoD service Pickbox NOW in Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bulgaria.

This launch is part of Canal+ Distribution’s ongoing strategy to promote premium Korean dramas worldwide.

The Penthouse follows the lives of wealthy families living in an exclusive residential complex, whose ambitions, rivalries, and secrets lead to unexpected plot twists and mysterious murder cases. It launched on SBS in South Korea in 2020.

“This partnership between Pickbox and Canal+ Distribution marks a milestone for the footprint of Korean dramas in the Balkans as the series will be available in multiple territories and languages,” said Camille Mury-Découflet, EMEA distribution manager at Canal+ Distribution.
