News Movement sets up creator distribution network, unveils doc slate

London-based Gen Z news publisher The News Movement (TNM) has launched TNM Network, a licensing arm that takes original YouTube and creator-made docs and repackages them for social media apps.

The initiative aims to support investigative journalism produced by independent creators by extending the reach of their content on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

TNM Network introduces a submission portal, inviting factual filmmakers to submit their work for licensing consideration.

The next phase of the project will see Caliber-owned TNM commission original docs for the network in 2027. It is looking for digitally native, independently produced investigative pieces with strong storytelling that can be re-shaped into shortform social media campaigns.

TNM Network’s initial slate of factual content includes Behind the Scenes of a Predator Sting, about vigilantes orchestrating a sting operation. Further licensed titles set for release are My AI Relationship, Hobby Horsing, Inside the Penis Shockwave Room and Between Here & War.

Rebecca Hutson, editor-in-chief at TNM, said: “Some of the most compelling investigative and documentary journalism today is being produced by independent creators and early-career journalists, yet too much of this work never reaches the audiences we speak to every day.

“TNM Network is about closing that gap. We bring our editorial experience and impeccable standards of journalistic integrity, along with our distribution, to work that already has a strong voice and point of view, and we adapt it for audiences without losing what makes it distinctive.”
