Netflix goes From NEET to Peak in first live-action deal with Nippon TV

From NEET to Peak stars Wataru Ichinose

Netflix has commissioned Japanese romantic comedy From NEET to Peak, with the series set to stream globally from January 2027.

It will be produced by Nippon TV, marking the Japanese media giant’s first live-action collaboration with Netflix.

From NEET to Peak stars Wataru Ichinose (Sanctuary) as Kanta Kakuhata, a romantically inexperienced recluse who attempts to fulfil his terminally ill mother’s last wish to find love with glamorous celebrity Mama Hamamiya, played by Suzu Hirose (Human Vapor).

The director is Yu Irie (A Girl Named Ann), with Shigeki Kaneko (Life’s Punchline) as screenwriter.

In late June, Nippon TV launched a Global Strategy division to drive long-term international growth, led by former Hulu Japan president Kazuo Takaya.
