Spanish platform Movistar Plus+ has confirmed the appointment of Jorge Pezzi and Hugo Tomás as part of a management shake-up.

The restructure was first mooted in April, following the departure of scripted lead Domingo Corral, which proved controversial in local creative circles.

Pezzi will take charge of the platform’s fiction strategy, leading film and series originals, editorial development and alliances management, while Tomás takes over as head of entertainment and non-fiction. Both will report to Daniel Domenjó, CEO of the platform since early March.

Pezzi had previously been CEO of Spanish production company Boomerang TV and Tomás joins from ITV Studios Iberia, where he was executive producer for non-fiction programmes.

The sports department continues under the leadership of Enric Rojas, who also takes on business management duties.

A new sports content department has also been created, under Juan Andrés García Ropero, better known as Bropi, to develop new formats. A single production department for the three editorial arms has also been set up, led by Pablo Guerenabarrena.

Other execs whose positions were announced on Tuesday include Agustín Navarro, who will lead the commercial department; Purificación González, who will head the communications and marketing division; and Saúl García, who will lead the technology department.

In the area of operations, new business and international sales, Domingo Nieto continues to oversee advertising sales management and technical management.

Additionally, Clara Ruipérez joins the Movistar Plus+ management committee to strengthen the analysis of new businesses and the development of new IP. The remaining areas retain their leadership, with Loreto González in HR, Ángeles López-Lobatón in legal counsel and Nacho Rupérez in finance.

“The new structure of the management committee, led by our CEO Daniel Domenjó, fosters a cross-functional and collaborative organisation focused on developing the company’s strategic plan through the creation of new business lines and the development of content to reach large audiences,” said Movistar Plus+ in a statement.
