Movistar Plus+ content director Domingo Corral departs as restructure continues

Domingo Corral is leaving his position of content director for Movistar Plus+, which is undergoing a period of change following the recent arrival of Daniel Domenjó as CEO.

Domingo Corral

Corral joined Movistar Plus+ in 2014 to lead the platform’s entry into production of original fiction content.

In April 2023 he also added entertainment content to his role, taking over as the platform’s content director.

Under his leadership, Movistar Plus+ has produced some of the most important series of recent years in Spain, including titles such as Apagón, Hierro, Rapa, Antidisturbios and La Mesías.

Corral’s departure was initially reported by the VerTele supplement of Diario.es and was later confirmed by C21.

Corral’s position will now be assumed by Jorge Pezzi and Hugo Tomás, who will join to lead fiction and entertainment content, respectively.

Pezzi had been serving as CEO of the Spanish production company Boomerang TV, part of the French group Mediawan, for the past two years

Previously, he was the founder and CEO of LaCoproductora (part of the Prisa Group since 2022), where he served as executive producer on unscripted projects such as El cielo puede esperar (Heaven Can Wait) for Movistar Plus+ and Palo y astilla (Palm and Splinter) for Atresmedia.

Hugo Tomás joined ITV Studios Iberia as executive producer for non-fiction programmes last year and had previously worked with Daniel Domenjó during his time at Mediacrest.

Movistar Plus+ has been undergoing a transformation since the beginning of this year, driven by changes at its parent company, Telefónica, where José María Álvarez-Pallete was replaced as CEO by Marc Murtra.

With Murtra’s arrival came the departures of Cristina Burzako as CEO of Movistar Plus+ and Sergio Oslé as president of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital.

Both were replaced by Daniel Domenjó and Javier de Paz respectively.
