M6 exec joins new distributor

The head of children’s programming at French broadcaster M6 has left to join a fledgling distribution company from the founders of French production company Superprod.

Morgann Favennec will be in charge of sales and acquisitions as deputy MD at Paris-based Superights, a joint venture between Axone Invest and Superprod.

Superights is managed by Clement Calvet and Jeremie Fajner, the cofounders of Superprod, which produces the animated series Lassie with DreamWorks Classics and DQ Entertainment for TF1, Teletoon and ZDF.

The new distribution company will sell animated and live-action content, including the preschool animation TV series Picnic With Cake, a coproduction between Submarine Productions, Walking the Dog and Tomavistas. The toon has already been sold to broadcasters including SVT in Sweden, ERR in Estonia, DR in Denmark, NRK in Norway and YLE in Finland.

Submarine’s comedy animation Kika & Bob, in production for Canal+ Family in France, RTBF and VRT in Belgium, NTR in the Netherlands and DR, will also be distributed by Superights. The company is also on the verge of picking up worldwide rights to Zoli & Pokey, which is in production with 2 Minutes and Dog House for French kids channel Gulli.
