Globo format acquisitions head Carolina Iacia steps down after 15 years

Globo’s head of format acquisitions Carolina Iacia is leaving the Brazilian giant after over 15 years with the company.

The executive announced her departure via LinkedIn and told C21’s sister publication Cveintiuno that her next professional move will be revealed soon.

“After several weeks of saying goodbye, it still feels strange to write that I’m leaving Globo after 15 years. But I leave very proud of what I built and deeply grateful for everything I had the opportunity to experience,” she said.

Iacia had been in charge of format acquisitions for five years and also oversaw the purchase of live events and literary properties.

In that role, she closed multiple local adaptations for Brazil, including recent agreements for formats such as 3 Minutes of Fame from Talpa; The A Talks and Mystery Duets from Can’t Stop Media; The Inheritance from All3Media; and My Mum, Your Dad from ITV Studios.

Previously, she was acquisitions manager for formats and live events and during her career at Globo has also held positions in programming and content.

“When I look back and think about my time at Globo, the first thing that comes to mind isn’t the big projects, the negotiations or the positions. It’s the people. Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey, on either side of the table. And thank you, Globo, for being my home for so long,” Iacia said.
