GammaTime, Content Partners link up to adapt Forensic Files for vertical viewing

The original Forensic Files aired for 14 seasons

Pioneering true-crime franchise Forensic Files is set to be reformatted as a vertical video series after rights holder Content Partners signed a licensing agreement with microdrama start-up GammaTime.

Under the deal, GammaTime is set to adapt 15 episodes of the series for vertical viewing.

The original version of Forensic Files aired for 14 seasons running to more than 400 episodes in the US between 1996 and 2011, with stints on TLC, Court TV and TruTV.

GammaTime, founded by former Miramax CEO Bill Block, as well as former Quibi and Google execs, arrived on the scene in October 2025, raising US$14m in seed funding.

The platform has sought to make itself a vertical destination for true crime content, in addition to striking a deal with Latin American production company Idilio to produce a slate of five Spanish-language vertical series.

“Forensic Files is the gold standard in true crime. Each episode’s tightly structured storytelling and high-impact reveals make them perfectly suited to GammaTime vertical viewing – delivering complete, gripping true crime stories in the mobile-first format,” said Block.

Content Partner’s Scott Hemming added: “GammaTime is an excellent partner for expanding Forensic Files into the vertical space. Bill and the team have a deep understanding of the format and a genuine passion for true crime. We’re pleased to work with them to bring this leading flagship series to new audiences in an innovative way.”
