Fox greenlights relationship format Marriage Market hosted by Whitney Cummings

US network Fox has commissioned a format based on arranged marriages, titled Marriage Market, for the 2026/27 broadcast season.

Whitney Cummings

Produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, the series is described as an “immersive matchmaking experience” in which families come together to help a single family member find a meaningful, lasting match. The show involves 100 single contestants, all putting their love lives in the hands of relatives.

The series will be hosted by actress, comedian and podcaster Whitney Cummings, who co-created the CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls, which aired for six seasons from 2011 to 2017, as well as creating and starring in the NBC comedy Whitney, which aired for two seasons from 2011 to 2013.

Fox’s international distribution arm, Fox Entertainment Global, is handling international sales of the project, which is executive produced by showrunner Alycia Rossiter and John Carr.

“Marriage Market is a bold new format that reflects our strategy of creating distinctive IP that take the kind of big and culturally relevant risks that viewers love,” said Allison Wallach, Fox Entertainment Studios’ head of unscripted.

“We’ve taken a timeless idea and reimagined it in a modern, high-stakes way with the families in full control and the talented, always funny Whitney Cummings presiding over it all as host.”

Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, said Marriage Market gives “all new meaning to shotgun wedding, turning dating on its head with one of the most extreme marketplace spectacles you’ve ever seen.”

Elsewhere, Fox cancelled the single-camera comedy Going Dutch after two seasons. Starring and executive produced by Denis Leary, the show followed a loudmouthed US Army colonel who is reassigned to the Netherlands following an unfiltered rant. The series was produced by Fox Entertainment Studios via Fox’s broadcast direct deal with Leary. The cancellation comes ahead of Fox’s 2026 upfront presentation next week.
