Disney Lat Am acquires Mexican version of NBC series Mad About You from Sony

Enloqueciendo Contigo is based on the NBC series Mad About You

Disney has acquired the Sony Pictures Television (SPT) series Enloqueciendo Contigo for Latin America, a Mexican adaptation of American sitcom Mad About You.

The series consists of 20 episodes, each approximately 23 minutes long. The first 10 episodes premiered in January of this year on the pay-TV channel Sony Channel. Details regarding the release date and format for Disney+ are still unknown.

Enloqueciendo Contigo (Going Crazy with You) stars Regina Blandón and Memo Villegas and follows a newlywed couple as they deal with the everyday chaos of life in a bustling Mexico City apartment.

“Since its debut on Sony Channel, Enloqueciendo Contigo has struck the perfect balance between humour and romance for audiences. We’re eager to share this couple’s story with Disney’s extensive audience in the region,” said John Rossiter, SPT’s executive VP of distribution, channels, and production for Latin America.

Based on the NBC series that aired between 1992 and 1999, the series is one of Sony’s big bets in Latin America this year, along with the dramedy Yo No Soy Mendoza the latest creation from iconic Colombian screenwriter and producer Fernando Gaitán (Ugly Betty), recently acquired by Netflix.

The adaptation of Mad About You was directed by José Raúl Zuñiga, Paula Rendón, and Salvador Suárez, with David Barraza and Yol Segura of SPT serving as content supervisors and Magaby García and Salvador Suárez directing.

Carlos Quintanilla, SPT’s VP of content, is creative director and shares executive production with Alejandro García and María Fernanda Bateman.

The project received the CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive granted by the Colombian government and administered by ProImágenes Colombia.

The format has been adapted in countries such as Argentina (Loco por vos, Telefe), Chile (Loco por ti, TVN), Italy (Innamorati pazzi, Italia 1) and the UK (Loved by You, ITV).
