Cookie Jar unveils new YTV drama

MIP NEWS – Newly renamed Cookie Jar Entertainment (fka Cinar) has come to market with a new teen live-action/animation series destined for airing on YTV in Canada this autumn.

Dark Oracle (13×30′) is a coproduction with Toronto-based Shaftesbury Films, and follows a pair of 15-year-old twins who discover a comic book that reveals their future. The show mixes live-action with traditional comic book graphic imagery, as the pair confront their animated alter-egos.

Shaftesbury chairman and exec producer Christina Jennings described the show as “a unique series set in a world of comics and gaming. There’s nothing like it on air right now.” The show is aimed at the 8-12 crowd.

Paula Brancati and Alex House star in a series created by newcomer Jana Sinyor and Emmy winner Heather Conkie (The Zack Files). Exec producers are Conkie, Jennings and Scott Garvie.

Meanwhile, Shaftesbury is currently in production on ReGenesis (13×60′) for TMN/Movie Central and toon Mischief City for YTV.
