Colin From Accounts producer makes Power move for first head of kids

Easy Tiger Productions, the Australian prodco behind hit comedy Colin From Accounts, has hired Kathryn Power as its first head of kids, with the former Moonbug exec seeking “bold, funny, weird and wonderful ideas.”

Power joins the Sydney-based producer having spent over five years with the Cocomelon producer Moonbug in LA, most recently in the role of head of creative.

Prior to joining Moonbug as a creative executive in 2021, Power worked in the preschool current series team at DreamWorks Animation Television.

Posting on social media, Power said: “Australia, I’m so happy to be back and amongst it with you all! If you’re a writer, creator or storyteller with a brilliant idea for kids and family television, I’d love to hear from you. Bring me your bold, funny, weird and wonderful ideas.”

Having become best known for the hit Binge/BBC/Paramount+ romcom Colin From Accounts, Easy Tiger made its first children’s show, Caper Crew, for Australian pubcaster the ABC last year. The show was recently acquired by Netflix in a global distribution deal with The Australian Children’s Television Foundation.

The live-action comedy follows a pair of suburban siblings after they have their quiet lives upended when their glamorous, con-artist grandmother arrives and teaches them the art of the grift so they can hunt for a priceless meteorite.

Easy Tiger, headed by CEOs Ian Collie and Rob Gibson, has also been behind scripted shows such as The Twelve, Scrublands, Territory, Rake, Jack Irish and the Disney movie Saving Mr Banks. Its unscripted shows include Lindy Chamberlain: The True Story and The Hunt for the Family Court Killer.
