CAA grows The Garden in US

US talent agency Creative Arts Agency (CAA) has closed a deal to represent the UK indie behind 24 Hours in A&E and The Audience.

The Garden was formed in 2010 by former Dragonfly TV execs Nick Curwin and Magnus Temple, who had previously created One Born Every Minute for Channel 4 among other hits. The indie has since earned rave reviews and awards for 24 Hours in A&E and last week launched its new format The Audience on C4.

Its formats and completed programmes are distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment and The Audience has already sold to Network 10 in Australia. US network CBS has also ordered a pilot based on the format, to be produced by ITV Studios, under a deal brokered by rival agency ICM.

But as Curwin and Temple eye further US deals for their formats they have now enlisted the help of CAA in LA to represent them.

Curwin told C21: “CAA is going to represent all our programming in the States, that’s what the deal is focused on. The system in the States is different and we need an agent in America. The US is very important to us, we have ideas about things we really want to get out there and we need an agent for that.”

The Garden’s contract with ITV Studios for international distribution is due to end soon and no decision has yet been taken on an extension, added Curwin.
