BBC renews The Split Up, Waterloo Road

NEWS BRIEF: The BBC has renewed legal drama The Split Up for a 6×60’ second season, produced by Sister Pictures in association with Abi Morgan’s Little Chick, with BBC Studios handling international distribution.

The Split Up, three seasons of its predecessor The Split and the accompanying two-part Barcelona-set special are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now. The UK public broadcaster has also confirmed that school drama Waterloo Road will return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One with season 18 in January 2027, and it has been recommissioned for a further run which will start filming in Greater Manchester this autumn.
