Plim Plim prodco Spiritum Entertainment takes Bumpy the Bear to Mipcom

Bumpy the Bear has Spanish pubcaster RTVE attached

MIPJUNIOR: Argentina-based prodco Spiritum Entertainment is attending MipJunior and Mipcom with preschool series Bumpy the Bear, its first IP since hit series Plim Plim.

Coproduced with Canary Islands-based distributor Krakatoa, Bumpy the Bear recently launched on YouTube and has also been acquired by Spanish pubcaster RTVE for broadcast on Clan in Spain and across its international channels.

The series, comprising 52 shorts and 52 music videos, follows a young bear and his friends, who put into practice everything they learn from their teacher through music and play. It is produced in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Bumpy the Bear follows on from the success of Plim Plim, which has been a huge success in Latin America. According to Spiritum, Plim Plim has 48.4 million subscribers across its YouTube channels and has reached more than 21.8 billion video views over the past 12 months.

“This is a new story with an identity of its own, but it shares something fundamental with us: the belief that entertainment can help children learn, play and discover the world,” said Guillermo ‘Tita’ Pino, president of Spiritum Entertainment.

Víctor M López, co-founder of Krakatoa, added: “Bumpy was conceived for an international audience, with a strategy designed to grow across multiple platforms, territories and categories.

“Mipcom is an opportunity to introduce this world and meet broadcasters, platforms and licensing partners who would like to be part of its growth. We’re looking for partners who share our vision and can help us bring Bumpy to more children and families around the world.”
