Banijay bolsters dating slate with acquisition of Temptations Under the Sun

The original Temptations Under the Sun was created by Productions J

Banijay Entertainment has acquired the global rights to French-Canadian format Temptations Under the Sun, expanding the group’s third-party portfolio of strategy-led reality dating shows.

Created by Montreal-based Productions J (House of Villains) for Bell Media-owned streamer Crave, the French-language version, titled OD: Tentations au soleil, premiered in 2024.

Set in a sun-drenched location, the format sees contestants navigate attraction and strategy, competing in seductive challenges to earn points and bid for advantages.

Temptations Under the Sun joins Banijay’s third-party line-up alongside strategic format Werewolves (StudioCanal and Dreamspark), Ninja Warrior (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and Stop the Train (Unfold Production).

Other Banijay dating formats include Temptation Island, Celebs Go Dating and Bad Boyfriends.

Helen Greatorex, head of format acquisitions at Banijay Entertainment, said: “We’re seeing an increased demand for high-volume reality, and with its blend of attraction and strategy, Temptations Under the Sun is the ideal format to sustain strong storytelling across multiple episodes.

“It transforms the search for love into a high-stakes game of risk and reward, while reflecting the shifting dynamics of modern dating. Distinctive and scalable, it offers producers worldwide a format built for local adaptation.”
