AMC Global Media greenlights Happy Jack starring Charlie and Martin Sheen

AMC Global Media has greenlit a new original series for AMC and AMC+ called Happy Jack, starring Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen as a father and son.

AMC Studios will start production on a six-episode first season of the half-hour family comedy in Los Angeles early next year before a premiere on AMC and AMC+.

The creative team behind the show includes writers, executive producers and co-showrunners Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, who previously worked together on Two and a Half Men and The Ranch.

Charlie Sheen is also an executive producer, as are Todd Christopher, The Tannenbaum Company (Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang) and 20th Television.

Dan McDermott, chief content officer of AMC Global Media and president of AMC Studios, said: “I worked with Charlie years ago on Spin City and he is a singular talent who has owned the screen in some of the most unforgettable films and television series ever made. We love this show from a great creative team, led by Jim Patterson and Matt Ross, and the Tannenbaums. This is definitely something new for AMC, and we can’t wait to bring it to viewers next year.”

Happy Jack will be part of a slate of original programming AMC Global Media will present at Mipcom in October.
