All3Media Int’l introduces international buyers to Paramount+’s Ex-Wife

Paramount+ original drama The Ex-Wife

Broadcasters in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and North America have acquired Paramount+ original drama The Ex-Wife from All3Media International.

Coproduced by Night Train Media, Clapperboard Studios and BlackBox Multimedia, The Ex-Wife is based on bestselling author Jess Ryder’s book of the same name.

In Europe, The Ex-Wife has been acquired by TV4 in Sweden, MTV Oy in Finland, NPO in the Netherlands, Stöð 2 in Iceland, Virgin in Ireland and Eitb Media in the Basque region of Spain.

A multi-territory deal covering rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia sees the four-part thriller air on Pickbox, in addition to Paramount+ in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, OSN in the Middle East, TVNZ in New Zealand and Paramount+ in Australia.

The drama debuted on Paramount+ in the UK last year and, following deals struck by All3Media International, launched in the US on BritBox this month in addition to a double acquisition in Canada.

This will see it air in English-speaking Canada on CBC Gem and in French-speaking Canada on Radio-Canada.

The series stars Céline Buckens (Showtrial), Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow), Janet Montgomery (New Amsterdam) and Jordan Stephens (Feel Good).

Tasha (Buckens) is living the dream: she has the perfect house, a loving husband Jack (Mison) and a beautiful little girl. But there’s one large blot on Tasha’s marital landscape, her husband’s ex-wife Jen (Montgomery) who won’t leave them alone and seems intent on staying in the picture. When Tasha returns home one day to find her life turned upside down, she realises that the dream she is living may be about to turn into a nightmare.

The Ex-Wife screenplay is written by Downton Abbey star Catherine Steadman, who also serves as executive producer on the series.

Joining Steadman as executive producers are: Olivia Pahl and Herbert L Kloiber for Night Train Media; Giuliano Papadia and Chiara Cardoso for BlackBox Multimedia; and Mike Benson for Clapperboard, as well as Ryder.

Andy Morgan (Tin Star, The Madame Blanc Mysteries) is producer and Brian O’Malley (The Lodgers, That Dirty Black Bag) directed the series.

Maartje Horchner, executive VP of content at All3Media International, said: “As what starts out as a seemingly perfect love story transforms into a tense thriller, we know the drama’s many twists and turns will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.”
