4Kids triumphs in Fox block bidding war

NATPE NEWS – The producer of Pokemon, 4Kids Entertainment has won the race to lease US network Fox's Saturday morning kids' block, after a four-year deal with extension options.

Beginning September 2002, 4Kids Entertainment will provide all programming content for the Saturday morning programming block, which runs from 08:00–12:00 ET/PT. The outfit has inked a sub-deal with DIC Entertainment to supply some of the content.

Under the terms of the Fox agreement, 4Kids will also have the right to retain all revenue from the network advertising sales over the deal period. The producer-distributor reportedly coughed up $25m for the block.

The future of 4Kids Entertainment programming that currently airs on Fox's rival network TheKids!WB, which includes Pokémon, Cubix and Yu-Gi-Oh! is still unconfirmed.
