Cramp Twins draws kids for Cartoon Network

After The Cramp Twins debuted in the UK on Cartoon Network and BBC1, the show's distributor TV-Loonland is celebrating its ratings success.

On the cabsat kids' channel, the 26×30' series is winning its weekday 16:30 slot among 4-9-year-olds, and is the joint number one weekday show for that demo on the network.

After premiering on September 3, the show has peaked at 190k viewers in its first week, though is down to around 170k in its more recent outings. The show is second only to DragonballZ at 17:00.

Its two weekend airings, at 09:00 and 16:30, have made the show the number one programme for kids 4-9 and 4-15.

Over on BBC1, the show is pulling in averages of 1.5m in its Monday slot, and has been included in CBBC's The Saturday Morning Show.

The Cramp Twins is due to hit Germany and France soon, with Ki.Ka to screen it from November and TF1 to show it from December. Salsa Distribution, the TV-Loonland subsidiary which is handling Lat-Am sales on the show, has sold it to Fox Kids Latin America for a 2002 airing.

The show is a TV-Loonland, Sunbow Entertainment and Cartoon Network Europe co-production. Directed by Becky Bristow and based on the graphic comic novels by Brian Wood, it is a story of two 10-year-old twins Wayne and Lucien Cramp.

The series follows Wayne's bad tempered exploits and Lucien’s attempts to save himself from his brother's antics and offers a quirky perspective on sibling rivalry.
