From microdramas to AI: Inside the TCCF Forum 2026

TCCF Panel 2023

Next month’s four-day TCCF Forum in Taipei will bring together speakers from across Asia, Europe and North America to tackle AI, microdramas, coproduction and IP, with a special focus on Indonesia.

Next month’s Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) will use its Forum to examine the normalisation of international coproductions, consolidation among streamers, the growing importance of IP and the impact of shortform content and artificial intelligence, organisers have said.

Under the overall theme Reshape, the 2026 Forum will run across four days from November 6 to 9 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, with 12 keynotes and panel discussions featuring more than 20 speakers from Taiwan and elsewhere. The international speakers come from Japan, South Korea, France, Thailand, Indonesia, Canada and Turkey.

Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) chairperson Sue Wang says Taiwan’s content industry has never lacked creative energy, but that success depends on aligning effectively with established international industry practices. She says the Forum programme is intended to connect Taiwan with international capital and distribution networks so that its content industry can move beyond a single market.

Thiti Srinuan

Fumio Yoshimura, president and CEO of Japanese entertainment conglomerate Toei Company, is among the featured speakers. He will discuss how Toei has built its global strategy around international coproductions, long-term IP development and business diversification.

For the first time, the Forum will address online-native content. One session will feature Thai director Thiti Srinuan, who is behind film franchise Thi-Baan Universe and is visiting Taiwan for the first time. He will draw on the success of The Undertaker film series, which has grossed over THB1bn (US$30m), to explain how user-generated content turned traffic into IP and how to validate the commercial value behind millions of views.

Another session will feature shortform specialists İlkin Kavukçu, founder and CEO of Istanbul-based İki Dakika Creative House, and Naomichi Sawamura, founder and CEO of Japanese entertainment start-up Emole. They will discuss content innovation and audience engagement in microdramas and how the format can convert large audiences into a sustainable business.

Harry Ravelomanantsoa

Technology is the other main strand at the TCCF Forum. One session will include three international executives: Tatsuo Yotsukura, research and development supervisor at Japan’s OLM Digital; Harry Ravelomanantsoa, director of product marketing at Canada’s Toon Boom Animation; and Charles Beirnaert, creative director at France’s Blue Spirit.

OLM Digital worked on anime series The Apothecary Diaries and produces the Pokémon series; Toon Boom’s technology has been used on The Simpsons; and Blue Spirit worked on Emmy-winning Blue Eye Samurai.

A separate session will bring together representatives of South Korea’s Studio Meta-K and MBC C&I to discuss how Korean film and television producers are combining AI with traditional production and changing the division of roles.

Financing and coproduction are also on the agenda. Japan’s K2 Pictures founder and CEO Muneyuki Kii and director Koto Nagata will discuss how the K2P Film Fund I links film production, talent development and content platforms. A separate funding session will feature Hee-seong Park of the Korean Film Council and Kazuko Nakamura of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, who will outline current film and television resources and coproduction initiatives in their countries.

Indonesia is covered by two sessions. Trang Nguyen, APAC, Middle East and Africa manager at UK-based K7 Media, will look at the Indonesian film and television market and possible entry points for Taiwanese content. Astrid Wienardi, head of content licensing and global business at Jakarta’s MD Entertainment, will discuss how vertical integration can support an international footprint. MD Entertainment is behind Dancing Village: The Curse Begins.

Formats are also on the agenda. Japanese broadcaster TBS Television producer Shunsuke Fukaya and Linfield Ng, VP formats sales and production, Asia, at NBCUniversal Formats, will discuss adapting formats for local markets and taking them global.

TCCF will also hold a TAICCA Accelerator Demo Day on November 7, at which eight start-up teams will make fundraising pitches for the first time. It will include a panel featuring Tetsuya Nakatake, director and producer at Wit Studio, the Japanese animation company behind Attack on Titan. Nakatake, who also invests in projects, will join international investment representatives to discuss capital trends.
