Globo, TelevisaUnivision pick Paramount formats The Perfect Line, Hollywood Squares

Hollywood Squares

Brazil’s Globo has picked up entertainment format The Perfect Line from Paramount Global Content Distribution, while TelevisaUnivision has acquired Hollywood Squares for Mexico and the US Hispanic market.

The announcement was made today by the international distribution division of the Skydance-owned company and marks two milestones for the formats: the first international adaptation of The Perfect Line and the first version of Hollywood Squares for the US Hispanic market.

The Perfect Line was acquired by Globo for Brazil, where it will premiere under the title Na Ordem Certa! as part of Caldeirão com Mion, the broadcaster’s Saturday afternoon show hosted by Marcos Mion.

Debuting in 2025 in the US on GSN, The Perfect Line is a gameshow in which contestants must correctly order a series of items, events or facts. Each round tests their general knowledge and intuition, with challenges ranging from determining how many seasons a sitcom has been on the air to identifying the most popular items on fast-food chain’s menu.

Hollywood Squares, meanwhile, was acquired by TelevisaUnivision for Mexico and the US Hispanic market. The adaptation will be titled Estrellas al Cubo and will air on the Las Estrellas channel in Mexico and UniMás in the US, while its episodes will also be available on the ViX streaming platform.

Although this will be the fourth adaptation of the format in Latin America – after local versions in Brazil, Peru and Argentina – it will mark the first iteration aimed at the US Hispanic market.

Created in the 1960s in the US, Hollywood Squares is a classic gameshow in which two contestants compete on a giant tic-tac-toe board whose nine squares are occupied by celebrities.

The format currently airs in the US on CBS, with Nate Burleson as host and Drew Barrymore as the central figure on the celebrity panel, and has been adapted in more than 30 countries.

“Latin American broadcasters are investing in proven formats that they can adapt to their markets, and there are no stronger partners in the region than Globo and TelevisaUnivision,” said Laura Burrell, director of international formats at Paramount Global Content Distribution.

“Hollywood Squares combines a universally recognisable game with a celebrity-driven dynamic that each market can adapt with local talent, while the streamlined production model of The Perfect Line is designed to produce large volumes of episodes. Having secured its first international sale less than a year after its US premiere demonstrates the potential of this format,” she added.
