Vice TV commissions docuseries on sport’s most divisive figures

US network Vice TV has commissioned a six-part anthology series called Everybody Hates exploring some of the most polarising figures in sports history.

Produced by Vice Studios, the project will profile YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, basketball player Caitlin Clark, college football coach Michael Vick, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The show poses the question: How did these figures become divisive and why does almost everyone have an opinion about them?

It will premiere on Vice TV on Tuesday, October 27, with new episodes airing until December 1. Select episodes will also stream on the Vice TV YouTube channel the day after they premiere on linear.

“The biggest stories in sports are often the ones everyone thinks they already know,” said Vice TV president Pete Gaffney.

“Today’s athletes are judged in real time, often before the full story is understood. Everybody Hates looks beyond the headlines to examine how these figures became symbols of much larger cultural conversations. That’s exactly the kind of storytelling Vice has always done best.”
