France TV, Australia’s ABC among pre-buyers of Christmas special Mog’s Bad Thing

Mog’s Bad Thing is based on Judith Kerr’s classic picture-book series

France Télévisions and Australian pubcaster the ABC are among a raft of broadcasters that have pre-bought UK network Channel 4’s upcoming animated Christmas special Mog’s Bad Thing.

VRT in Belgium, Finland’s YLE, Norway’s NRK, S4C in Wales, ETV in South Africa and Czech TV have also acquired the film, while another two deals are at offer stage.

Produced by Lupus Films and distributed by Serious Kids, Mog’s Bad Thing is a hand-drawn 2D animated half-hour special, based on the late German-British author Judith Kerr’s classic picture book of the same name.

Mog’s Bad Thing will have a theatrical premiere in the UK before debuting on Channel 4 this Christmas. It will also have a theatrical run in France and Spain.

The film follows Lupus Films’ previous special, Mog’s Christmas, which aired on Channel 4 in 2023 and attracted 5.7 million viewers, according to Serious Kids.

As with Mog’s Christmas, Mog’s Bad Thing is written by Joanna Harrison and directed by Robin Shaw, with Lupus Films co-founders Ruth Fielding and Camilla Deakin producing.
