ZDF Studios to handle international distribution of German showjumping drama High Valley

Germany’s ZDF Studios has taken international distribution rights to equestrian drama High Valley, written for TV by bestselling author Juli Zeh and Lukas Becker.

The 6×45′ series is coproduced by Studio Zentral, a subsidiary of ZDF Studios, and Berlin-based prodco Load Studios.

It tells the tale of talented showjumper Ina, who trains at an equestrian facility riven with deadly secrets, rivalries and economic pressures.

The lead cast includes Lili Epply, Joshua Hupfauer, Karoline Eichhorn and Heino Ferch. Christian Zübert is director, with Zeh on board as both writer and creative producer.

Sebastian Krekeler, director of drama at ZDF Studios, said: “With High Valley, we are expanding our international drama portfolio with a series that has a clearly distinctive profile. We are convinced that the series will captivate audiences well beyond the German-speaking market.”
