Zodiak Kids nets join YouTube

Zodiak Kids has set up two channels targeting preschoolers and other kids on YouTube, with clips from series such as Mister Maker, Totally Spies and Waybuloo appearing alongside original content.

ZeeKay and ZeeKay Junior will also be available on the recently launched YouTube Kids app later this year, joining channels from the likes of The Jim Henson Company, Nat Geo Kids and PBS Kids.

The distributor will work with its new production arm, Zodiak Kids Studios, and third-party producers to create original content for the channels, which are being overseen by Natalie Walmsley, digital channel manager for Zodiak Kids.

Zodiak Kids will pilot new content on the platform and use audience reaction online to “back new commissions,” Walmsley said.

“We recognise the need for on-demand and readily accessible content that younger audiences are already accustomed to and that provides a safe and age-appropriate environment for parents to let their children discover.”

Zodiak Kids CEO Jean-Philippe Randisi added that the channels “present a fantastic family hub that we can cross-promote our content within and allow children throughout the globe to view content when and where they want to.”
