Int’l nets learn Art of Crime

The Art of Crime

France Télévisions (FTV) channel France 2 has ordered a second season of crime series The Art of Crime and seen the first picked up by international broadcasters.

Germany’s ZDF, Poland’s TVP, Japan’s NHK Enterprises, Mexico’s Canal 22 and MHz Networks in the US have all acquired the first season of the French drama from distributor Gaumont.

The procedural series is produced by Gaumont Television in coproduction with FTV and with backing from TV5 Monde. Isabelle DeGeorges, Gaumont’s president of television in France, is the series producer.

The show launched last fall on France 2 and follows a detective and an art historian as they unveil intriguing mysteries of French cultural and historical heritage in Paris.

The new season of 6×60′ episodes, to be delivered in fall 2018, will be available at MipTV in Cannes next month, along with the first 6×60′ season.

“Season one of The Art of Crime was well-received in France and around the world. Viewers and media alike enjoyed the sweeping backdrop of world-renowned monuments and the captivating storylines,” said Vanessa Shapiro, Gaumont’s president of worldwide TV distribution and coproductions.
