Canale 5 period drama heads to Suspilne Ukraine in Italian content package

Public broadcaster Suspilne Ukraine has picked up a package of Italian TV series and feature films, including period drama Elisa di Rivombrosa.

Originally aired by Mediaset’s Canale 5 in 2003, the romantic costume series stars Vittoria Puccini and Alessandro Preziosi. The story follows a young woman of humble origins who falls in love with Count Fabrizio Ristori against the backdrop of aristocratic intrigue and political conspiracy in 18th century Piedmont.

Other series included in the content bundle include epic romantic drama Le Stagioni del Cuore; biographical miniseries Rodolfo Valentino – La Leggenda, about the silent-film idol; and Callas e Onassis, which chronicles the turbulent relationship between opera singer Maria Callas and Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis.

The deal was announced by Italian sales house Mediasat Distribution.
