UK sweeps up at Int’l Kids Emmys

Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep picks up the animation award at the International Emmys

MIPTV: Productions from the UK, Denmark, Australia and the Netherlands dominated the International Emmy Kids Awards in Cannes last night.

The winners from the UK were Hey Duggee, which won best preschool show; Shaun the Sheep, which took home best animation; Horrible Histories, winner in the best factual category; and Peter & Wendy, which won best TV movie or miniseries.

The series were produced by Studio AKA, Aardman Animations, Lion Television and Headline Pictures/Juliette Films respectively.

Danish show Ultras Sorte Kageshow (Baking in the Dark), produced by public broadcaster DR, won best non-scripted entertainment, while Dutch show Kasper en de Kerstengelen (Casper and the Christmas Angels), from NL Film & TV/Avrotros, won best series.

Elsewhere at the event, which was being held outside of the US in Cannes for the second year running, Australian property Doodles won in the best digital category.

The interactive multi-platform children’s comedy series is produced by Ludo Studio, ABC3, Screen Australia and Screen Queensland.
