Off The Fence (OTF) is an Academy Award-winning factual studio. Independently founded in 1994 and acquired in 2019, by ZDF Studios.

OTF is involved in every aspect and facet of non-fiction programming. It produces, acquires, localises, and distributes programming via its network of creative and commercial offices in Amsterdam, London, Bristol and Toronto. Our independent spirit and personal approach enables us the flexibility and dynamism to deliver the best for our partners. We bring a bespoke and commercially savvy approach to our global business and have a deep understanding of local markets. Most importantly, OTF believes in quality. This is reflected not only in the non-fiction programming it creates, represents and helps bring to life, but also in its long-term relationships with the world’s top broadcasters and producers.

OTF Studios is the commercial hub of Off the Fence, one of the world’s most respected names in non-fiction programming. We specialise in IP licensing, co-production, pre-sales, acquisitions, content investment and customised digital strategies for a wide range of clients, from legacy broadcasters to the new generation of FAST streamed services.

OTF Originals is an award-winning producer of factual television and feature-length theatrical documentaries, broadcast worldwide. We have created more than 700 hours of programming over the last three decades for the world's A-list broadcasters including Netflix, BBC, National Geographic, Curiosity and ZDF ARTE. Our films aim to give a fresh perspective and high production values across a range of genres that include science, history, adventure, human stories, and natural history. Our creative team has been recognised by more than 80 awards, including Royal Television Society, Emmy, Golden Panda, and Grand Teton. Our Netflix co-production with The Sea Change Project and Netflix Originals, 'My Octopus Teacher' achieved an Academy Award, BAFTA and Grierson Award.
