Vidio strikes first Indonesian microdrama pact with ReelShort

Reelshort content on the Vidio platform

Indonesian streamer Vidio has partnered with shortform drama platform ReelShort to bring hundreds of ReelShort titles to Vidio from September through a dedicated Short Drama tab.

The catalogue spans genres including romance, billionaire romance, fantasy and family drama, delivered in ReelShort’s bite-sized 60- to 90-second episode format. It will be available to subscribers on Vidio’s TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra and Ultimate packages.

More than 200 titles will be dubbed into Indonesian at launch, with a slate of short drama series to be coproduced with Indonesian production houses for release across both platforms. The deal was brokered by AR Global Media Network.

The tie-up extends ReelShort’s expansion across South-East Asia, following partnerships with AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines.

According to Media Partners Asia (MPA), ReelShort holds an estimated 29% share of global shortform drama market revenue, while Indonesia accounts for 39% of the region’s shortform drama audience, the largest share in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vidio reported 5.8 million paid subscribers across South-East Asia in the second quarter of 2026, ranking third in the region, and separately holds the largest share of Indonesia’s SVoD subscriptions at 20.7%, according to MPA and AMPD data.

Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio, said: “Vidio continues to evolve alongside the changing ways Indonesians consume entertainment. As audiences increasingly look for content that fits seamlessly into their daily lives, we want to ensure they can find every type of entertainment they love on a single platform, from live sports, local originals, global entertainment to now, the rapidly growing format of short dramas.”

Joey Jia, founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, which owns ReelShort, added: “Our partnership with Vidio marks a significant milestone in ReelShort’s South-East Asia growth strategy and reflects a fundamental shift in how audiences are consuming entertainment.

“Indonesia is one of the region’s most dynamic entertainment markets. We see tremendous potential not only to expand access to our global catalogue, but also to create original stories for Indonesian audiences.”
