CONTENT AMERICAS: Uruguayan broadcaster Canal 4’s international production hub for ITV Studios format Still Standing will be used to produce new seasons of the format for Ecuador, Mexico and the US Hispanic market.

Extended to 70 episodes each, the second seasons of the format for Univision/Televisa (Mexico/US Hispanic) and Teleamazonas (Ecuador) will be made at the hub alongside fourth season of Canal 4’s version, locally titled Ahora Caigo!.

Speaking at Content Americas, Canal 4 programming manager Mariano Mosca said: “Our strategic partners Univision/Televisa and Teleamazonas have renewed their alliances with Canal 4. Following the success they have had on their respective screens, they have commissioned us to produce second seasons of Still Standing.”

Meanwhile, Canal 4 is set to begin production on its original entertainment format Home Masters (Maestros del Hogar), a weekly primetime DIY reality show that will feature more than 20 episodes in its first season.

“It is a reality competition where participants, in pairs, must face various challenges typical of a home: making a lamp with recycled materials, designing furniture and facing technical and creative challenges,” Mosca said.

Javier Olivera, general manager of Canal 4, added: “The commercial side of Home Masters is a success because it has the capacity to add advertisers that are not so closely linked to television, such as construction, renovation and design brands. And it’s also ideal for brand integration models.”

The broadcaster has set up a production hub in Montevideo that it is already offering to international channels for future adaptations. “We have already received enquiries from Chile, Brazil and the US for this new format, and during the production of the Uruguayan version they will be visiting us on set in Montevideo,” Olivera added.

According to the Canal 4 duo, the production of a complete season takes a little over a month.
