LONDON TV SCREENINGS: Companies in Ukraine and Mongolia have greenlit local versions of Dutch format The Traitors, bringing the number of territories adapting the IDTV title to 30, distributor All3Media International announced today.

In Ukraine, streaming platform Sweet TV has commissioned and will produce the Ukrainian version of the format. In Mongolia, The Traitors has been acquired by Hulegu Distribution for production by and broadcast on leading free TV channel EduTV, IPTV platform Univision and OTT service LookTv.

The Mongolian version marks The Traitors second commission in Asia, with an Indian adaptation set to launch on Amazon Prime Video.

Created and developed by IDTV in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit and debuting on RTL4 in the Netherlands in 2021 as De Verraders, IDTV’s reality competition has chalked up 30 local adaptations in four years, All3Media International announced on the eve of its London TV Screenings event tomorrow.

But it’s not just The Traitors formats rights that are selling; tapes sales are also high for the brand. Canada’s Bell Media, for example, has licensed five international versions including RTL’s Hungarian version (produced by Paprika Studios) as well as deals in Australia, the US, the UK and Canada for the New Zealand version (produced for Three by South Pacific Pictures).

“We are delighted to share The Traitors has reached these milestones, with 30 territories bringing local format versions to screen, over 35 adaptations commissioned and over 50 territories broadcasting episodes of The Traitors via tape sales,” said Louise Pedersen, CEO at All3Media International.
