A Sony Pictures Television (SPT)-owned children’s channel in the UK has acquired the forthcoming series based on the Dutch preschool franchise Miffy.

Tiny Pop will air Miffy’s Adventures Big and Small (52×7′), which sees Dutch illustrator and author Dick Bruna’s classic 59-year-old bunny animated in CGI for the first time.

Developed by London-based animation studio Blue-Zoo, the series will debut on Tiny Pop, bought by SPT as part of its deal for CSC Media Group last year, in October.

It will air in an evening slot on the preschool channel, which joined its older-skewing sibling network Pop on UK DTT platform Freeview this year.

The series is distributed by M4E-owned German firm Telescreen in Europe, the Middle East and South America, while the Netherlands’ Mercis, which owns all rights to the franchise, handles sales in the rest of the world.

A stop-motion series based on the Miffy franchise has aired in more than 70 countries since 2003.
