Toonz takes independent CG series MechWest to Mipcom

MechWest is produced by AnimSchool Studios

India-based animation company Toonz is taking independently developed CG action-adventure series MechWest to Mipcom in Cannes next week.

Created by Dave Gallagher and produced by AnimSchool Studios, MechWest is set in a world where coal-powered robots, known as mechs, are treated as disposable tools.

The plot follows a compassionate but overlooked teenager who befriends a mysterious mech carrying a dangerous secret and embarks on an adventure that could change the fate of an entire world.

According to Toonz, the series has built an audience of more than 11 million lifetime views.

In the anime space, Toonz will present Rokuro, coproduced with Japan’s Planet Studios. The series is based on the web manga Rokorou no Daibouken and has been dubbed into Hindi on Toonz’ Chotoonz TV platform.

Toonz will also be showcasing feature films at Mipcom, including Tulipop: Magical Seasons, animated horror anthology A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts, Big Foot & Carlos, Pierre the Pigeon Hawk and anime film The Taste of Water.
