Tell-Tale launches Warped new animation

Tweenies producer Tell-Tale Productions is at Cartoon Forum today unveiling its new show, which the company's md Karl Woolley described as {Formula-1 meets Wacky Races meets Alien.{

Warp (pictured) is a boy-skewed animated series involving fast cars, robots and aliens that Woolley is currently drumming up finance for. With a 13×30' series in the pipeline, the show is aimed at the 7+ age group. {It's pretty off the wall,{ he told C21. {Absolutely barking.{

With animation coming from an inhouse team, the show mixes 2D characters and 3D backgrounds. If the show takes off, Woolley sees it giving Tell-Tale the opportunity to build its own international sales arm. {Tweenies is sold by BBC Worldwide, our new show Boo! is being handled by Universal; at this stage we're looking after Warp ourselves.{

Other new toons that Tell-Tale is now handling itself include the preschooler Ella (26×10') and sitcom Sprogs (13×30'), rights to which have reverted back to Tell-Tale. The two shows were to be distributed by Gullane Entertainment but, since the company was acquired by Hit Entertainment, that deal has fallen through.

In other news, Tell-Tale has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide to produce two new 60-minute Tweenies direct-to-video specials. Production begins later this year, with Woolley now looking to take the Tweenies concept into other areas.
