Taskmaster heads to Poland as format continues international roll out

Poland’s TVN has become the latest broadcaster to order its own version of Taskmaster

Poland’s TVN has become the latest broadcaster to order its own version of UK indie Avalon’s entertainment format Taskmaster.

The BAFTA and Rose D’Or winning format will now broadcast in 14 countries, having first launched in the UK on Dave in 2015 before moving to Channel 4 in 2020.

TVN’s version, produced by Avalon in partnership with Constantin, comes as other versions of the show are renewed, including the UK original, which received a bumper six season renewal from C4 earlier this month.

TV4 in Sweden is in production on seasons 14 and 15 of Taskmaster, produced by Avalon with Fremantle.

Warner Bros Discovery in Norway has confirmed a 12th season, in production with Avalon and Nordisk, while Taskmaster Denmark is in its 10th season on TV2 and RTP in Portugal’s version is currently in its seventh.

The Icelandic and Estonian versions of the show launched in March on Syn and TV3, respectively, while in Taskmaster Netherlands is set to air later this year on RTL.

Paula Warwick, head of distribution at Avalon, said: “The strength of the format and its ability to deliver guaranteed comedy have driven its dedicated global following, and we can’t wait to bring it to Polish audiences. With more territories coming on board this year, its global expansion shows no signs of slowing.”

Meanwhile, the Taskmaster YouTube channel continues to rack up viewers internationally, particularly in North America, where it launched in October 2019 and has over 1.4 billion views and over 2.1 million subscribers.
