Glasgow-based prodco Randan seeks partners for YA drama Headrush

Headrush was based on the personal experiences of screenwriter Philip Wright

Glasgow-based production company Randan is seeking partners for its YA comedy-drama series Headrush.

Written and inspired by the personal experiences of screenwriter Philip Wright, Headrush (6×30’) received initial funding from Sky and STV Studios after being selected for the Sky Studios Table Reads in 2023. STV Studios helped co-develop the project.

The series’ plot follows a young gay man trying to navigate a mental health diagnosis while falling in love for the first time.

Randan, which is seeking coproduction partners, distributors, broadcasters and streamers to help take the project further, was born from a partnership between prodcos Bombito Productions and MTP in 2024. It is led by Bombito’s founder Reece Cargan and MTP’s exec producer James Heath.

Randan is also working on a social media strategy for Headrush, through which additional content will be available on platforms including TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram to run alongside the main series.

Cargan and Wright pitched Headrush at Young Horizons Industry in Warsaw on Tuesday, where they won the m:brane exchange award, which gives Headrush a place in the official selection at Swedish event m:brane in Malmo next year.

Wright and Cargan are long-time collaborators, previously working together on projects including Randan-produced feature film Committed.
