Sky History, The History Channel investigate World War II with Tom Hanks

Sky History in the UK and Hearst Network’s The History Channel across EMEA are getting a 20-part documentary series about the Second World War, narrated by Tom Hanks.

Originally produced by A+E Factual Studios, Nutopia, Hanks’ Playtone Productions and WPP Media’s Motion Entertainment for History in the US, World War II with Tom Hanks retells the Second World War, drawing on rarely-seen archive material and insights from historians.

Exec producing are A+E Factual Studios’ president Sharon Scott, exec VP and head of development Steve Ascher, Matt Pearl and Andy Seestedt. Nutopia’s founder and CEO Jane Root exec produces with Ben Goold and Steve Condie.

Hanks also exec produces with Playtone co-founder Gary Goetzman, as does Motion Entertainment’s chief content officer Chet Fenster. Exec producing for The History Channel are exec VP and head of programming Eli Lehrer, senior VP of development and programming Mary E Donahue and Jennifer Wagman.
