Sarbu quits CME

Adrian Sarbu has resigned as president and CEO of Central European Media Enterprises (CME), the Central and Eastern European broadcast group today confirmed.

Sarbu has been at the company for the past two decades, taking up his current position in 2009. He will continue to be employed by CME until January 2014 “to ensure an orderly transition” to a new CEO, the search for which will be overseen by board member Duco Sickinghe.

Sarbu said: “I am proud to have been a part of CME for nearly 20 years and to have ensured the continued success of the company through this very challenging period. I am confident the Company is well positioned for the future. My mission at CME is accomplished.”

CME owns and operates a string of TV channels across Central and Eastern Europe, including bTV in Bulgaria; Nova TV in Croatia and Czech Republic; and Pro TV in Romania. It also owns the Voyo VoD platform in the region.

Ronald Lauder, CME’s founder and chairman, added: “Adrian drove the implementation of CME’s multichannel strategy and new media initiatives. We are grateful for Adrian’s leadership throughout and look forward to continuing to work with him in the future.”
