MIPCOM: FAST platform Samsung TV Plus has greenlit Unlikely Families, a four-part scripted anthology from Burbank-based Dhar Mann Studios, for its Exclusives strand.

The series is the second instalment of the Unlikely anthology, following Unlikely Romances, which Samsung TV Plus released with Dhar Mann Studios in the summer. Unlikely Families will premiere exclusively on the free ad-supported streaming service in 2027.

Each episode follows an unconventional caregiver and a child brought together by circumstance. Dhar Mann is series creator and executive producer and is also credited as writer. He is a creator whose channels have more than 170 million followers and about 300 million weekly views across platforms, according to Samsung TV Plus.

The show was unveiled to delegates at the Mipcom conference tonight, where Mann and Sean Atkins, CEO of Dhar Mann Studios, were speaking.

“Family isn’t always about who you’re related to. Sometimes it’s about the person who shows up when you need them most,” said Mann, founder of Dhar Mann Studios. “These are stories about unexpected connections, second chances and the people who remind us that we’re not alone.”

The order builds on the launch in 2025 of an exclusive Dhar Mann TV channel on Samsung TV Plus, which was the service’s first original content deal. Its originals slate also includes Hooligans: The ARCH Racing Project, made with Keanu Reeves and Gard Hollinger.

“Samsung TV Plus is thrilled to deepen our collaboration with Dhar Mann to deliver creator-led programming that feels fresh, meaningful and made for today’s audiences,” said Salek Brodsky, senior VP and global head of Samsung TV Plus. The platform says it has more than 100 million monthly active users and carries more than 5,000 ad-supported linear channels across 30 countries.
