RTVE, Atlantia film thriller based on hunt for notorious Spanish criminal Casper

Roberto Álamo and Alain Hernández filming Casper

Spanish pubcaster RTVE and Madrid prodco Atlantia Media have started production on Casper, a 3×70’ crime miniseries based on the true story of Ángel Suárez Flores, one of Spain’s most wanted criminals.

The series stars Roberto Álamo and Rodolfo Sancho, who play the criminal known as Casper and Inspector Pablo Losada, the cop obsessed with arresting him, respectively.

The series recreates three of the biggest cases of the criminal’s career and the police operations that ended his 30-year career. These include the theft of €18m (US$20m) from Banco Popular de Yecla and 19 paintings from the residence of businesswoman Esther Koplowitz, and an operation linked to drug trafficking that culminated in his final arrest.

The drama, set between the late 1990s and the first decade of the 2000s, is an original idea from Joaquín Llamas (Los Artistas: Primeros Trazos, Sequía), which he also directs, with scripts by Manuel Ríos, Mónica Martín-Grande and Ángela Romero.

The cast also includes Adriana Torrebejano, Alain Hernández and Cristina Alcázar. The shooting will take place in locations in Madrid, Murcia, Yecla, Cartagena and the Canary Islands.
