RTL Group, DPG Media close deal for RTL Nederland

NEWS BRIEF: RTL Group has confirmed it sold RTL Nederland to Belgium’s DPG Media yesterday (July 1) after the protracted deal, first announced by RTL Group CEO Thomas Rabe in 2023, was approved by the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets on June 27.

The €1.1bn (US$1.3bn) deal, delayed by regulatory hurdles, includes a strategic partnership giving RTL Group first-look rights on RTL Nederland’s new shows. DPG Media will retain the RTL brand in the Netherlands until at least December 2034.
