Romanian channel group Antena to export local stories with new distribution arm 

High-stakes gameshow The Ticket

Romanian television channel group owner Antena Group is launching a sales and distribution arm with the goal of extending the reach of local stories on the global stage.

Antena Distribution, which is launching on the eve of Mipcom, will shop a range of scripted and unscripted series produced for its portfolio of five channels in Central and Eastern Europe.

The company said its offerings span “internationally adaptable entertainment and reality formats” and a “new generation” of titles from creators with proven track records.

On the unscripted side, Antena Distribution’s slate includes The Ticket, a high-stakes gameshow that tests contestants’ skill, courage and creativity for a life-changing prizes. The project has become one of the most-watched titles on Antena Group’s flagship channel Antena 1, particularly among urban female audiences.

Other non-scripted titles being distributed by Antena Distribution include kids’ talent show format Next Star; travel reality format Be Our Guest; comedy talent format Stand-Up Relevation; national identity-rooted comedy roast format Country Roast; hybrid stand-up, sketch and absurdist comedy format I Laugh; kids culinary series Junior Chef; and reality-adventure format Sheriffs of Romania.

The scripted slate includes drama Ana, You Were Written in My DNA; second-chances dramedy Plan B(Roke); cult comedy City Hustlers; political satire The Pork Republic and poetic and sensual drama Love with a Scent of Lavender.

In addition to Antena 1, Antena Group’s channel portfolio includes Antena Stars, female-focused Happy Channel and music channel ZuTV as well as streamer Antena Play.
