Oliver Wright names factual prodco Coming Up Roses, reveals C5 greenlights

L-R: Andrew Nelson, Oliver Wight and Harriet Scott

Former Viacom executive Oliver Wright has named his new production company Coming Up Roses and announced two new commissions from Channel 5 in the UK.

As reported by C21, Wright launched the prodco in March after leaving his position as head of factual and features at Viacom International Studios (VIS) UK.

Backed by All3Media-owned Objective Media Group, the new outfit’s leadership team is rounded out by executive producer Harriet Scott and production executive Andrew Nelson.

Scott worked at VIS as an exec producer, as well as head of development and executive producer at Honey Bee. Nelson too is a former VIS staffer, holding posts such as production manager and unit manager.

Coming Up Roses will specialise in documentaries and factual programming, with the two new commissions falling within that space.

Malta: The Jewel of the Med is a 4×60’ observational docuseries for Paramount-owned Channel 5, exploring the culture, beauty and history of the Mediterranean island.

The fourth season of Secrets of the Royal Palaces is a 4×60’ factual series detailing shocking stories connected to royal residences.

Wright, Scott and Luke McLaughlin serve as executive producers for both shows, with All3Media International handling distribution.

In May, Channel 5 ordered three shows from Coming Up Roses: The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea; Secrets of the 70s Supermarket; and a second season of Motorway: Hell on the Highway.

“Coming Up Roses has had a wonderful start with an incredible five commissions in as many months,” said Wright.

“We really couldn’t think of a better name to encapsulate the drive, energy, passion and positive nature of our teams and the wonderful series they create.”
