Objective Scotland, Maverick UK merge to form new prodco 141 Productions

Toby Stevens and Hannah Brownhill

The Glasgow arm of Objective Media Group (OMG) has merged with Maverick Television UK to form 141 Productions, which will focus on factual and factual entertainment programming.

The new company will be run by joint creative directors Toby Stevens, OMG’s head of Scotland, and Maverick UK creative director Hannah Brownhill, and will sit within All3Media-owned OMG.

141 Productions is based in Glasgow with a London office.

The new outfit will build on Brownhill’s current slate whilst expanding Stevens’ existing Scotland-based output, “capitalising on the pair’s joint experience in the industry,” said OMG and Maverick today.

141 “will nurture its existing talent pool across development and production as well as bolstering opportunities for emerging talent based in Scotland,” the companies said.

The news comes on the eve of the Edinburgh International Television Festival, which takes place this week in the Scottish capital.

Maverick will continue to be run from LA by CEO Simon Knight, who moved to the US in April to oversee development and production for the American market, following the departure in February of John Hesling, Maverick’s US president.

OMG Scotland’s productions include Bafta and RTS Award winner It Was Alright in the… for Channel 4; Bafta-winning children’s show Last Commanders for CBBC; and Meet You at the Hippos for BBC Scotland.

Maverick’s productions include Embarrassing Bodies on E4, while 10 Years Younger in 10 Days returned to Channel 5 in July. It also makes long-running CBBC series Operation Ouch!.

“As nations production continues to grow, Hannah and I will ensure 141 plays its part in strengthening Scotland’s contribution, backed by our combined proven track record of delivering excellent formats,” said Stevens.

Brownhill added: “With a strong slate to build on, Toby and I look forward to growing 141 into a creative and inclusive hub that nurtures local talent and uses those insights to develop ideas that reflect viewers’ lives and entertain audiences across the nations.”
