Ntintili Factory’s Busisiwe Ntintili on working with Netflix in South Africa

Today, we hear from Busisiwe Ntintili, founder of Ntintili Factory and co-chair of the Writers Guild of South Africa, about working with Netflix on one of its first originals in the country and the impact of the Hollywood strikes.

Busisiwe Ntintili is an award-winning film and television writer, director and producer – founder of eponymous production company Ntintili Factory and co-chair of the Writers Guild of South Africa.

Her credits including one of Netflix’s first original South African series, Jiva, as well as titles like Intersexions for national public broadcaster SABC and 4Play: Sex Tips for Girls for private free-to-air net ETV.

Ntintili was among those at Series Mania in Lille last month and spoke there with Nico Franks about working with Netflix in her home country, the impact of last year’s Hollywood strikes across the industry, and what the ‘new iteration’ of TV looks like after the streaming era.
