Noodle & Caboodle partners with KaizenPop for kids’ martial arts project Chuck Loris

UK-based creative development and IP studio Noodle & Caboodle Entertainment is to collaborate with Miami-based development outfit KaizenPop on new animated kids’ martial arts show Chuck Loris.

Rich Staplehurst

Created by Noodle & Caboodle chief creative officer Rich Staplehurst, the action-comedy is aimed at children aged eight to 12. It follows the adventures of a young slow loris called Chuck, who uses his martial arts skills to take on the criminal underworld.

The project pairs an animated series with an interconnected game, conceived as a single world rather than an adaptation from one medium to another.

Noodle & Caboodle will lead on creative, character design, narrative, scripting and wider brand extensions. KaizenPop, meanwhile, will co-develop across series, game and social media, while structuring the production and financial framework.

Chuck Loris will also be part of KaizenPop’s IP incubator, KodaPop, as a title in its Creators Program.

Former Moonbug executive Staplehurst launched Noodle & Caboodle in March, revealing its inaugural slate of kids’ content.

Last month, the studio appointed former Disney executive Jay Francis as an advisor, focused on original IP and acquisitions.

Staplehurst said: “Chuck Loris has been built from the ground up as one world with huge transmedia potential from day one, and KaizenPop’s reach and community-building expertise make them the right partners to land it with the audience it was made for.”
