Directed by Kamila Tarabura (Absolute Beginners) and produced by Greenlight Films, Nights & Days follows a proud but impoverished noblewoman who, despite wishing to marry another woman, marries a man in order to escape spinsterhood.

Set at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when Poland has long been absent from the map of Europe, the story follows the couple’s 30-year marriage and life in the countryside, as her yearning for passion and lost status clashes with her daily reality.

The novel of Nights & Days was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. The series adaptation is written by Tarabura, Marta Bacewicz and Katarzyna Tybinka, and produced by Justyna Pawlak (Infamy).

Łukasz Kłuskiewicz, Netflix’s programme director for Central and Eastern Europe, said: “Polish culture is a treasury of stories that have captivated us for generations. The story shown in Nights & Days is no different – it still charms us, becoming a timeless reflection on ordinary human dilemmas. That is why, at Netflix, we want to tell it anew, including future generations, through the talent and contemporary sensitivity of the young creators who are working on this production.”

The US-based streamer is revealing a host of international slates this week, starting with its new 2026 commissions and renewals for the MENA region.

The slate includes a series version of feature film AlKhallat+ with episodes featuring directorial debuts such as Aziz Aljasmi and Mohammed Alajmi and a fresh cast, creating four distinctive stories.

Other drama series on the slate include heist show Chasing Shadows and psychological horror Obsess. In unscripted a fourth season of Dubai Bling is in the works along with a second season of the local version of Love is Blind, Love Is Blind: Habibi.
