Netflix greenlights two new seasons of culinary franchise Chef’s Table

Chef’s Table debuted on Netflix in 2015

Netflix has ordered two new seasons of its culinary series Chef’s Table, with the new instalments set to focus on desserts and iconic chefs.

Chef’s Table: Icons looks at chefs who reached the top of the culinary world, and the reinvention and evolution required to remain there. Chef’s Table: Desserts, meanwhile, focuses on some of the world’s foremost dessert chefs and the artistry behind their craft.

The greenlights come 11 years after the Chef’s Table franchise debuted on Netflix. Thus far, the flagship series has run for seven seasons, while it has also spawned numerous spin-off seasons exploring pizza, BBQ, noodles and more.

The original Chef’s Table is created by David Gelb and produced by Boardwalk Pictures and David Gelb Films. The franchise is executive produced by Gelb, Andrew Fried, Brian McGinn and Dane Lillegard.

“Chef’s Table has always been about more than food – it’s about the personal journey of the chefs who tell stories with their cuisine – the obsession, discipline, and heart that goes into every night of service in their kitchens and dining rooms,” said Gelb.

“For Desserts and Icons, these stories were so exciting to me that I decided to take the camera and direct all eight episodes myself, and I’ve found myself profoundly moved by the experience of filming on the most intimate level with these chefs.”
